Gene Wilder died today at the age of 83 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was a brilliant comic actor who starred in such classic movies as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, but he will probably be remembered best for his lead role in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Our departed friend Chuckles used to love this clip from that movie, feeling that it was especially appropriate for dinar investors.

Indeed, Young Frankenien is one of my favs, the crew of Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle, and Madeline Kahn work so well together, its just hysterical. I was never too keen on his others, but YF makes me laugh every time I see it despite knowing practically ever line.

Wilder wrotte the screen play for YF as well. The version of The Producers Wilder did with Zero Mostel is also great.
